Scott A. Hotes, Chief Technology Officer
Scott Hotes is the Chief Technology Officer of Voleon and oversees all infrastructure and software development for the firm. Scott is a technical leader with a track record of building effective, creative engineering and product development teams. He is a technical architect with expertise in implementing scalable solutions and turning sophisticated theoretical algorithmic results into real-world products.
Prior to joining Voleon, Scott was the CTO and SVP Engineering at Location Labs, a mobile software company. Before Location Labs, Scott was a Lead Architect at the US Department of Defense, where he worked on Internet security, traffic modeling, and data mining. His other experience includes spearheading enhancements to the SGI IRIX operating system at Silicon Graphics.
Scott has presented at a number of large industry conferences, including the O’Reilly Where Conference, CTIA, Privacy Identity Innovation (PII), and the IEEE, and has published in a wide range of disciplines spanning discrete mathematics, elementary particle physics, analytical chemistry, and geophysics.
Scott holds a Ph.D. in Particle Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Mathematical Physics from Case Western Reserve University.
